Our Journey Through Photographs
Photography has always been a passion for me, probably since watching my father use an Argus C3 rangefinder. The photos of us kids on this website were taken with that old classic. I made a concerted effort in junior high using a simple box camera. My father gave me a Yashica rangefinder around 1960, but when I had my beautiful daughter, I opted to buy a relatively inexpensive but better quality SLR called a Ricoh. It had a surprisingly good f1.8 lens and many of the images of young Holli you will see here were taken with it. My only complaint: it used the clumsy Pentax screw mount.

Subsequently, I purchased a Yashica/Contax with it's phenomenal Zeiss lenses. When my father-in-law passed away I was gifted his heavy vintage Nikon F, but didn't find its lens any better than the Contax. The most recent photos, including our book cover image, were taken with my first digital camera--a Sony Cybershot that also used a superb Zeiss lens.

In order to give the reader a sense of place and time, I have provided photographs that pertain specifically to each chapter. Since I was nearly always the photographer, picts of me are necessarily uncommon but I refuse to apologize for that. With respect to photography, selfies are very uncool.
After reading a chapter in the book, find the matching chapter under the website's "Chapters" sub-menu to view the relevant images. As they will definitely lose context, it is recommended that you view them during or after you read each chapter rather than viewing all the photos at once. Enjoy!
